Alexander Doerr becomes new CEO of VELA Hotels AG

Berlin, 12.01.2021. Alexander Doerr has been appointed as the new CEO of VELA Hotels AG with effect from 01.02.2021. He will also become a co-shareholder of the company. "With Alexander Doerr, we are gaining a proven expert in the sophisticated, lifestyle-oriented hotel industry. With him, we will successfully continue our growth trajectory," says Sebastian Fischer, Supervisory Board of VELA Hotels AG.

Doerr can look back on around 15 years of experience in leading positions in the hotel industry. Most recently, he worked very successfully for five years as General Manager of the Berlin five-star hotel "Das Stue", which opened in 2013. Under his responsibility, the luxury boutique hotel has established itself as a strong brand in Berlin . Further stations in his career previously included the Nassauer Hof hotel in Wiesbaden, the Park Hyatt in Zurich and the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the Maldives and Maui.

VELA hotels are characterized by a special architecture and location as well as a high lifestyle factor. The current project pipeline comprises over 900 rooms and suites. Current projects include the VELA Hotel in Ahlbeck on Usedom and the Hotel LOEV on Rügen. The focus of the VELA operating companies is on projects developed and built by PRIMUS Immobilien AG and taken over by VELA as operator.

With the arrival of Alexander Doerr, the business is to be expanded and positioned throughout Germany. "In future, our focus will not only be on the Baltic Sea coast, but also on other attractive tourist regions such as the North Sea coast and the Alps. We expect the dynamic trend towards vacations in Germany to continue," says Doerr. "In addition to PRIMUS Immobilien AG's projects, we will also consider lease agreements with third-party hotel owners and developers in the future," he adds.
