Since May 2024, a modern local shopping center has been under construction on Julius-Leber-Ring in Erfurt-Roter Berg, which will put an end to the many years of provisional arrangements in the district. The project is being realized by VENTIS Commercial AG. A contemporary retail ensemble with around 7,200 square meters of retail space and an underground car park with around 160 parking spaces is being built on the site of the former shopping center. A modern REWE supermarket will be the anchor tenant, complemented by other chain stores such as Penny, KiK, Takko, TEDi, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, a snack bar and a savings bank branch. Special attention is paid to sustainable construction: The REWE store is being built as a so-called green building - with a heat pump and environmentally friendly, recyclable materials. Completion is planned for the end of October 2025 and will secure the local supply in the neighborhood in the long term and for the future.
