After around a year of construction, the new REWE store in Querfurt was opened on November 3, 2021. With almost 2,000 square meters of sales space, the store offers a modern shopping experience and at the same time consistently focuses on sustainability. The architecture is based on a space-optimized version of the REWE Green Building concept - specially developed to make efficient use of the narrow plot. Thanks to this tailor-made planning, around 100 customer parking spaces and a new bus station could be realized on the site in addition to the supermarket. No compromises were made in terms of environmental compatibility either: the store uses an energy-efficient heat pump to generate heat and was built using predominantly sustainable building materials.
A modern park+ride area was also built on the opposite side to relieve congestion in the city center and improve the transport infrastructure. This offers 93 free parking spaces as well as the structural preparation for a snack stand and a public toilet.
The successful project development - realized by VENTIS Commercial AG - thus stands not only for modern local supply, but also for the targeted urban development in Querfurt.
